News for May '18

The period of phenomenal growth continues as PROJECTR Wellington welcomes more residents, international visitors, and kicks off a major XR development programme.

New residents include the team from Intela AI (advanced artificial intelligence providers); interactive museum creator, Jeremias Volker; Jared Forbes and Sensorium who are developing a world-leading 180 camera and platform. Other teams across the Centre are adding staff as their development requirements grow.

We’ve selected three Massey University undergraduates to join our residents. They are Fiona Lai studying sensory stimulation in VR, Courteney Lomas (previous NZVRARA Student Chapter President) who is working on deploying VR experiences with float tank technology, and spacial design student, Oscar Keys. Oscar co-founded the Massey’s VR club, VRTX and is the current NZVRARA Student Chapter President.

"PROJECTR is a super cool co-space where creative juices are flowing in streams. The people here are like a 'family' of dreamers and doers. It's a positive friendly space and definitely has an atmosphere to help you make your dreams a 'virtual' reality."

The residents are currently building out resources to capture and stream live VLOG content, so watch out for some unedited mayhem from our more extroverted residents in the coming months!

We employed a Community Manager, Sarah Lee, who has been on the team for a few weeks and has picked up many of the responsibilities that Michael was undertaking, allowing him to focus on his other Centres and on working closely with our valuable sponsors, partners and XR programme leaders.

The team recently hosted representatives from StarVR (new ultra-premium headset company who recently IPO’d in Taiwan), NVIDIA, and Taiwan government officials as a result of the October 2017 agreement for VR Cooperation between the two markets, facilitated by our founder, Michael Gregg, who has been visiting Taipei each month this year.
